Anti-corruption officers need to learn judicial laws: Minister

KARACHI:Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce and Anti-Corruption and Cooperative Department Jam Ikramullah Dharejo has said that in order to eradicate corruption from all over the province and especially in dealing with white collar crimes, the officers of the Anti-Corruption Department are required to learn judicial laws.

He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of a two-day training program for anti-corruption officers. Chairman Anti-Corruption Muhammad Iqbal Memon, Director Anti-Corruption Fazal Shehzad Abbasi, Muhammad Ali Baloch Director Investigation Director Legal Abdul Qadir Ansari and other officers were also present on the occasion. A training program on anti-corruption officers’ awareness of judicial laws is being organized in collaboration with Sindh Judicial Academy.

Dharejo said the training of officers would enhance their capabilities. Officers should improve their skills from a judicial point of view. He said that such trainings would help eliminate white-collar crime. It is imperative that officers be aware of judicial laws.

Dharejo said that tests should also be conducted on the trained officers to assess what they have learned during the training. He further said that anti-corruption investigation wing needs to be improved. Instead of two days of training, its duration should be one month.

He said, “The officers should be posted after taking the test. Posting of SHOs in the police is also being done only after taking the test.” He expressed his hope that this training program would enhance the capabilities of the officers.

Officers must be competent and committed to eradicate corruption from the province. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Anti-Corruption Sindh Muhammad Iqbal Memon said that it was imperative for the officers to understand the importance of laws and investigations while presenting cases in the courts. He said that this series of training would be continued in future also.
