Irrigation employees demand facilities

LARKANA: The Irrigation Department employees on the call of Sindh Irrigation Trade Union Mutahida Federation took out a large rally and held a protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh here on Wednesday for awarding son quota, payment of group insurance during lifetime and to retired employees, health cards and other facilities awarded to employees working in Sindh Secretariat.

They were holding large banners and red flags in their hands and chanted slogans in favour of their just demands. Their provincial president Allah Bux Dhamrah, Comrade Nasrullah Abro, Faqeer Abdullah Jatoi, Bashir Memon, Ali Sher Sangi and others said that during the regime of Benazir Bhutto son quota was given to low paid government employees as their right but it is very painful that this right has been snatched by that government which came into being in her name adding efforts are being made for appointments on political and influence basis in this government which has caused a tremendous unrest among the low paid government servants. They said if the appointments are made on political grounds then the Irrigation Department will be ruined and the rights of the right people will be buried.

They said health card, utility allowance and other facilities have been given to the employees working at Governor, Chief Minister Houses and Sindh Secretariat but other lower scale employees have been denied these facilities which is discrimination. They demanded payment of group insurance during lifetime and to the retired employees who have given their blood to run the department, jobs on son quota and other facilities without loss of time to end unrest among them.
