1200 schools to be solarized in Sindh: Minister

LARKANA:Solar plates worth Rs1.25 billion will be supplied to 1200 schools of Sindh which will eliminate the electricity crisis from educational institutions.

This was stated by Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, Provincial Minister for Energy, while addressing a gathering at Government Pilot higher Secondary School here on Tuesday after reviewing solar plant installed in the school.

He said 128 plates each of 445 Watts capacity have been given to the Pilot School which will fulfill its requirements. He said solar plants have also been installed at Saint Joseph School, Rahmatpur boys school and schools of Lahori Muhalla, Ali Gohar Abad, Shahnawaz Park and other schools so that students should not feel any difficulties during their studies timings. He said they are trying to solerise ten more schools here. He said 35 large hospitals of Sindh will also be put on solar energy to ensure uninterrupted power supply so that patients and diagnostic machinery could work round the clock.

He said Sindh is facing gas and electricity crisis hence on the directions of the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as many as 250 Basic Health Units have already been solerised. ‘Being the energy minister I am saying that handmade crisis of gas and electricity has been created in the country by the federal government’, he said and added ‘Sindh should be given its due gas and electricity share’.

Minister Shaikh said that the Local Bodies bill is a democratic bill in which all institutions have been empowered and it will benefit the people. He said that bill also includes parliament and council of common interest. He said MQM is spreading ethinicity but the people of Sindh are peace loving. He said Sindh’s decisions will be made by the people of Sindh, Sindh Assembly and MQM will be defeated by PPP on political ground.

Shaikh declared that local bodies elections will be held in March and claimed that PPP will win. Principal of the school informed the minister that the name of this school was kept by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto because wood, metal and electric work is also taught in the school.
