Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts team, led by Major Ijaz Karim, successfully climbed K-2 peak.
According to a report on Wednesday, Major Ijaz Karim hoisted the flag of Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts at a height of 8611 meters. It is the first time in history that Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts achieved this historic milestone.
K2, at 8,611 metres (28,251 ft) above sea level, is the second-highest mountain on Earth, after Mount Everest at 8,849 metres (29,032 ft).It lies in the Karakoram range, partially in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan-administered Kashmir and partially in the China-administered Trans-Karakoram Tract in the Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County of Xinjiang.
Meanwhile, four Pakistani mountaineers’ successfully climbed Broad Peak the other day. Two the mountaineers Anam Uzair and Amaar Butt suffered from frostbite and snow blandness during the expedition.
Pakistan Army helicopter rescued both the mountaineers as soon as the Army was approached for rescue. The mountaineers thanked Pakistan Army for their immediate rescue.
