Widespread Rain, Thunderstorms, and Snowfall Expected Across Several Regions

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted widespread intermittent rain, wind, and thunderstorms with snowfall over hills in several regions during the next 24 hours.

Affected areas include Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, North-East and Central Punjab, Murree, Galliyat, Potohar region, and Islamabad. Heavy rain and snowfall are expected at isolated locations.

According to the PMD report, moderate rainfall and snowfall occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Upper Punjab over the past 24 hours, while light rain and snowfall were recorded in Kashmir, Balochistan, South Punjab, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The highest recorded rainfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was 27mm in Malam Jabba, followed by Cherat and Kalam with 25mm each. In Punjab, Islamabad Airport received 23mm, while Attock recorded 20mm. Muzaffarabad in Kashmir recorded 10mm of rainfall. Snowfall was recorded in Kalam (13 inches), Malam Jabba (9 inches), and Murree (0.5 inches).

The lowest recorded temperature today was -9°C in Leh, while Parachinar, Bagrote, and Kalam recorded -3°C. Authorities have advised residents in affected areas to take necessary precautions amid the expected weather conditions.
