A strong westerly wave continues to influence the upper regions of the country, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms to the northern areas.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts that this weather pattern will persist in the north, particularly affecting upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and Kashmir.
In the past 24 hours, these regions experienced widespread rain and thunderstorms, with some areas reporting isolated hailstorms. Notably, heavy rainfall was recorded in Mir Khani with 86 mm and Dir, both Upper and Lower, observed 83 mm. Chitral also received significant precipitation, measuring 83 mm, while Kalam recorded 52 mm, and Malam Jabba and Saidu Sharif noted 29 mm of rain each.
Elsewhere in the country, dry weather prevailed. The highest temperatures were recorded in Shaheed Benazirabad at 40°C, followed by Mohenjodaro and Mithi at 39°C.
Looking ahead to Friday, the Met Office predicts mainly dry conditions across most parts of the country. However, isolated rain and thunderstorm activity are anticipated in specific northern areas, including Chitral and Dir. Meanwhile, Islamabad and its surroundings can expect partly cloudy skies. In the southern regions, notably Sindh, hot and dry weather is likely to continue.
