Uzbekistan, Pakistan Explore Housing, Urban Development Partnership

Alisher Tukhtaev, the Uzbek Ambassador to Pakistan, met with Federal Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada in Islamabad today to discuss collaborative opportunities.

Minister Pirzada commended Uzbekistan’s economic progress and emphasized the need for innovative, eco-friendly approaches to urban development, including resource recycling and green construction.

Ambassador Tukhtaev highlighted the strong historical and cultural connections between the two nations. He referenced the February 2025 Tashkent meetings, which led to the formation of a Joint Working Group on Housing and Communal Services.

The envoy detailed Uzbekistan’s economic advancements, increased foreign investment, and evolving construction industry. He expressed a willingness to share expertise in training and capacity building for housing initiatives, water reclamation, and sustainable infrastructure.

Uzbekistan also offered assistance with rainwater collection, high-rise building, smart and affordable housing solutions, and support for low-income families.

Further suggestions included joint policy development, knowledge sharing in public procurement and legal frameworks, and insights into modern construction methods. The ambassador emphasized Uzbekistan”s readiness to provide technical assistance.

Both nations reiterated their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, aiming to transform their diplomatic ties into tangible economic and industrial partnerships within the housing and urban development domains.
