In a significant diplomatic engagement, Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu of the Republic of Turkiye met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House today.

This meeting underscored the strengthening ties between the two nations amidst escalating tensions in South Asia. The Prime Minister extended his heartfelt greetings to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and fondly reminisced about his recent trip to Ankara on April 22. The visit was marked by fruitful discussions aimed at enhancing Pakistan-Turkiye relations across various domains.

Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude towards President Erdogan for his unwavering support for Pakistan during the current regional turmoil and his call for peace. He highlighted Turkiye’s backing as a testament to the longstanding and profound connections shared by the two countries and their citizens.

Addressing the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident, the Prime Minister criticized India’s provocative stance. He stressed Pakistan’s consistent stand against terrorism and highlighted the immense sacrifices made by the nation, including 90,000 casualties and economic losses exceeding USD 152 billion.

Sharif pointed out India’s failure to provide evidence and its unfounded attempts to implicate Pakistan in the Pahalgam event. He reiterated Pakistan’s willingness to engage in a credible international investigation and suggested Turkiye’s involvement in such an inquiry.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to economic recovery and emphasized the need for regional peace and stability to achieve this goal. Ambassador Neziroglu echoed Turkiye’s appreciation for Pakistan’s stance, urging restraint and de-escalation to ensure peace in South Asia.
