Transporters mull over going on strike against burning of vehicles

QUETTA: Haji Mir Doulat Ali Lehri, President, All Pakistan Bus Union, said Friday that the decision as to when to observe wheel jam strike across the province over burning of more than one dozen trucks loaded with coal, non-provision of security to the transporters and harassing transporters and passengers on the pretext of smuggling sugar and fertiliser would be taken in the meeting to be held on July 08, 2023 (today).

These views were expressed by him while addressing the joint meeting attended by the representatives of transporters of all routes, Truck Assiciation, Balochistan Mini Mazda Association and Anjuman Tajiran Balochistan at Sada Bahar Bus Terminal here.

He said that more than one dozen trucks were burnt to ashes in District Harnai of Balochistan, but neither the government had taken action against perpetrators of the crime nor had owners of the burnt trucks been compensated, adding that security forces and district administration Harnai had failed to provide security to the trucks supplying coal to different areas of the country and Balochistan province. He added that transporters and passengers of passenger buses were being harassed on the pretext of smuggling sugar and fertiliser.
