The Quetta-Dera Ismail Khan main highway was reopened for traffic on Sunday after a breakthrough in negotiations between the local administration and protesting relatives of a murder victim.
The protest, which had caused severe disruptions along the vital route, was sparked by the tragic killing of Abdul Mehrabzai. He was gunned down by unidentified assailants near the Muhajir Ada area in Muslim Bagh, located within the Killa Saifullah district.
Enraged family members of the victim blocked the highway, leading to long queues of vehicles in both directions. However, following successful parleys with Deputy Commissioner Saeed Ahmed Dumar, the protesters decided to end their strike, allowing traffic to resume and bringing relief to stranded commuters.
