Pakistan’s senior leadership, on the occasion of World Braille Day, has renewed the nation’s pledge to safeguard the dignity and ensure the full societal participation of citizens with visual impairment, calling for a unified effort to advance Braille literacy across the country.
In separate messages, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif underscored the government’s dedication to providing equal opportunities for all persons with special needs.
President Zardari emphasised that the country continues to honour its obligations under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, reinforcing the national objective of fostering an inclusive and equitable society.
Prime Minister Sharif affirmed the administration’s commitment to protecting the entitlements of all special persons.
He issued a direct appeal to educational institutions, civil society, the private sector, and the media, urging them to strengthen their joint efforts and cooperation for the promotion of Braille literacy.
