Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred three Kashmiri youth in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a Kashmir Media Service, the youth were killed in a fake encounter during a cordon and search operation in the Keran area of Kupwara district. The operation was jointly launched by the Indian Army and police in the area.

The troops also launched cordon and search operations across the Jammu region, including Jammu, Doda, Reasi, and Udhampur districts. They sealed the areas and main roads and conducted the operations, which were going on till last reports came in. These operations have created a sense of fear and panic among the local population.

Indian police arrested another lawyer Mian Muzaffar, nephew of jailed Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom, under the draconian Public Safety Act in Srinagar and shifted him to Kot Bhalwal jail, Jammu. This marks the third lawyer arrest in a fortnight, following the detention of Nazir Ahmed Ronga and Mian Abdul Qayoom. The APHC spokesman in a statement condemned the arrest and urged the United Nations to intervene to resolve the Kashmir dispute as per its resolutions.

Meanwhile, the Indian government’s move to make the Lieutenant Governor of occupied Jammu and Kashmir all-powerful continues to draw condemnation from various quarters. Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, terming the order as an assault on the already diminished rights of Kashmiris, demanded the immediate revocation of the decision. He called on all sections of the population and political parties to unite and raise their voices against this draconian order.

The Kashmiri diaspora in the US has decided to organize peaceful protests on August 5, marking the anniversary of the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A by the Indian government in 2019. The protest aims to counter India’s propaganda machinery and rally support for the Kashmiri freedom movement. KMS

Making IIOJK Lt Governor all-powerful continues to draw condemnation

Srinagar, July 15 (KMS): Condemnation of making the Lieutenant Governor of occupied Jammu and Kashmir all-powerful by the Narendra Modi-led Indian government continues to pour in, with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) leader, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, being the latest to join the chorus.

According to Kashmir Media Service, talking to media persons in Srinagar, Tarigami termed the Indian government’s amendments to the so-called Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, delegating almost all powers to the Lt. Governor, as yet another assault on the already diminished rights of Kashmiris.

“The Lt. Governor is not an elected representative, but he has been empowered by the directive issued by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs, which we believe is another assault on the constitutional rights of the people of IIOJK,” he said.

He said that the amendments had further enhanced the powers of the Lt. Governor while disempowering the elected assembly. “These amendments will significantly undermine the powers of an elected government, and the new cabinet will have limited powers. It will now be within the jurisdiction of the LG to even transfer an officer,” said Tarigami.

He said that this amendment to the so-called Reorganisation Act amounts to the repeated betrayal of the promises made by the BJP government regarding the restoration of full statehood to IIOJK.

Demanding the immediate revocation of the Indian government’s move, the CPI-M leader has called on all sections of the population and political parties to unite and raise their voices against this draconian order.
