LAHORE: The third monsoon spell lashed Lahore and other Punjab cities on Saturday, disturbing social and business life.

Heavy rain pummeled the provincial capital with rainwater accumulated on almost all roads turning the city into a deluge. The people are facing trouble in commuting. The city’s environment has turned to be polluted due to flooding of many roads and streets. The authorities have failed to ensure draining of rainwater.

Lahore Deputy Commission Umar Sher Chattha has put all the LWMC, WASA and MCL staff on alert, directing them to drain the water from low-lying areas of the city as quickly as possible. The situation was not different in other Punjab cities where heavy downpours have again caused the water level to rise in streams and nullahs especially in Koh-e-Sulaiman. Kaha Sultan, Chhachhar and Kala Bagga Khosra passes were overwhelmed by the rainwater.
