A new book challenging India’s narrative on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute has been launched at the Pakistan High Commission London. Titled “The Forgotten Narrative of Jammu and Kashmir,” the book is authored by Chaudhry Saud Sultan, son of Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry. Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, was the chief guest at the event.

British Member of Parliament Adnan Hussain, renowned author Victoria Schofield, and Saud Sultan addressed the gathering. Prominent members of the Pakistani community, academics, writers, and international journalists attended the event, which was hosted by the High Commissioner.

The book offers a researched and comprehensive overview of the Kashmir dispute, adhering to international scholarly standards. Sultan’s work counters Indian claims with robust evidence. The book launch, hosted by the High Commissioner, highlighted its significance and global relevance.

Sultan dedicated two years to researching the 250-page book, which includes 50 pages of references. Its eleven chapters cover historical, political, and legal aspects of the Kashmir dispute. Initial chapters challenge India’s stance at the United Nations in 1947 and present arguments against their claims. The concluding sections offer a comparative study of living conditions, freedoms, and rights in Azad Kashmir and Indian-administered Kashmir. Sultan contends that Azad Kashmir’s inhabitants enjoy greater freedoms.

The book is expected to serve as a significant scholarly resource on the Kashmir issue globally and may help shape future policy and diplomatic approaches.
