In a significant move, the Texas House of Representatives has adopted a resolution recognizing March 23 as Pakistan Day, with Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh commending the decision. He highlighted the resolution as a step forward in enhancing Pakistan-U.S. relations, acknowledging the contributions of the Pakistani-American community to Texas.
On March 28, 2025, the resolution was presented in the presence of Consul General Muhammad Aftab Chaudhry. The resolution, initiated by State Representative Dr. Suleman Lalani, celebrates the social, religious, linguistic, and economic impact of Pakistani Texans. It emphasizes how their professional and cultural endeavors have contributed to the state’s success.
Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh expressed optimism about the resolution’s potential to foster stronger ties between Pakistan and the U.S. He noted plans to extend similar initiatives to other states with significant Pakistani populations.
Earlier, the Consul General met with Speaker Dustin Burrows, expressing gratitude for his support in passing the resolution. An invitation was extended to the Speaker for a delegation visit to Pakistan. Additionally, Dr. Sulaiman Lalani hosted an Iftar at the Texas Capitol, attended by legislators and local dignitaries, celebrating the occasion.
