Tessori Seeks Judicial Intervention Over Rising Traffic Accidents in Karachi

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has written a formal letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, voicing concerns over the rising number of fatal accidents involving tankers and dumpers in Karachi and urging swift judicial intervention.

In the letter, the governor underlined that over 70 fatalities have been recorded in 2025 alone due to such accidents. He attributed the crisis to administrative negligence and warned that the lives of citizens remain at constant risk unless decisive action is taken immediately.

The Governor referenced the March 24 incident at Malir Halt, in which a water tanker struck a motorcycle carrying a family. The crash resulted in the deaths of Abdul Qayyum, his pregnant wife Zainab, and their newborn child. He requested the Chief Justice to take immediate notice of the incident and the broader issue.

Governor Tessori also informed the Chief Justice that he had previously written to the former Chief Justice of Sindh High Court and the caretaker Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, urging the implementation of existing court directives on the matter.

He stressed that the safety of Karachi’s residents is a fundamental governmental duty and called for strict enforcement of laws to prevent further loss of life.
