Six policemen were martyred and a civilian prayer leader was brutally killed after security forces successfully foiled a major terrorist assault on a police training school, the military’s media wing reported Saturday.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), militants identified as belonging to the “Indian proxy group Fitna al Khwarij” launched the attack on the training facility during the night between October 10 and 11.
The assailants first attempted to breach the perimeter of the school but were swiftly repelled by vigilant law enforcement personnel on duty. In a subsequent act of desperation, the attackers rammed a vehicle laden with explosives into the main gate of the institution.
Displaying exceptional courage, police officers on site immediately engaged the militants, neutralizing three of them on the spot. The remaining two assailants were cornered within a building complex and were later eliminated during a precision clearance operation conducted by security forces.
During the intense firefight, six valiant police personnel, including trainees, embraced martyrdom. The incident also left twelve policemen and one civilian with injuries.
In what the ISPR described as a particularly heinous act, the terrorists desecrated the mosque inside the school compound and barbarically killed the Imam Masjid, an innocent civilian who was performing his religious duties at the time.
Security forces have initiated a comprehensive sanitization operation in the vicinity to neutralize any further threats. The ISPR statement affirmed that the perpetrators responsible for this cowardly act will be brought to justice.
‘The security forces, in close coordination with law enforcement agencies, remain resolute in their determination to root out Indian-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan,’ the military’s media wing declared.
The statement concluded by emphasizing that the sacrifices of the nation’s brave defenders and innocent civilians serve to fortify the national resolve to safeguard the country at any cost.
