A bomb blast targeting the Quetta-bound Jaffer Express injured seven passengers and derailed four carriages near Shikarpur on Tuesday, causing widespread panic and suspending railway traffic in the region.

The powerful explosion occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. on the train tracks near Soomra Wahi, about one kilometer from the Sultan Kot railway station. The detonation, heard from a significant distance, created alarm throughout the surrounding area.

Following the attack, four bogies of the passenger train veered off the track. High-ranking officials, including Deputy Commissioner Shakeel Ahmed Abro and SSP Shikarpur Shahzeb Ahmed Chachar, along with Rescue 1122 ambulance services, rushed to the scene to manage the emergency response.

While authorities confirmed no fatalities resulted from the incident, seven travelers were hurt. The wounded were initially transported to RBUT Civil Hospital Shikarpur for medical treatment. A few of the injured were subsequently referred to hospitals in Sukkur and Pano Aqil for further care.

The injured individuals were later identified as Hawaldar Javed, Sepoy Abdul Rahman, Sepoy Azhar Jameel, and Muhammad Shafique Yousufzai, among others.

In the aftermath, PPP MPA Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh and Deputy Commissioner Shakeel Ahmed Abro visited the wounded passengers, including Muhammad Younus and Muhammad Shafique, at the RBUT Civil Hospital to inquire about their condition.

This event is the latest in a series of incidents targeting the province’s transport infrastructure, where militants have frequently blown up train tracks in recent years.
