Technology Federal Minister Calls for Mandatory AI in Education, Citing an Urgent National Need

Federal Minister for the Board of Investment (BOI), Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, has issued a stark call for educational reform, declaring the integration of artificial intelligence into the national curriculum a mandatory and urgent requirement to prepare Pakistan’s youth for future challenges.

Addressing an AI Summit at Bahria University Islamabad on Thursday as the chief guest, the minister asserted that education remains the foundation of national progress. He stressed that the world’s future is inextricably linked with AI, making it imperative for educational institutions to take the lead in equipping students with essential technological skills.

Mr. Sheikh highlighted Pakistan’s significant economic potential, noting that the country presents vast investment opportunities, particularly in the technology and AI sectors. He stated that focused and targeted investment in these emerging fields could serve as a powerful catalyst for accelerating the nation’s economic growth.

Drawing a parallel with global success stories, the federal minister pointed to China’s remarkable development, which he attributed to a sustained focus on education and technological advancement. He suggested that Pakistan could follow a similar path to prosperity by prioritizing innovationdriven sectors and investing in its human capital.

Mr. Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh concluded by observing that the fusion of strategic investment and AIdriven solutions can unlock new avenues for economic expansion, boost productivity, and generate substantial employment opportunities. He reaffirmed the Board of Investment’s unwavering commitment to promoting and facilitating investment in technology, artificial intelligence, and other highgrowth areas of the economy.
