Federal Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada on Wednesday highlighted the role of mystics and saints in spreading Islam in the subcontinent, saying their teachings were based on humility, tolerance, brotherhood and peace.
He said the seminal work reflects that the Sufis played an instrumental role in shaping our understanding of the faith, and their contributions continue to inspire and guide us to this day.
He was addressing a launching ceremony of a book titled ‘Kalyam Kooch-i-Ishq’ held here in Pakistan Academy of Letters, Islamabad. The book has been co-authored by Syed Ahmad Iqbal Tirmazi and Iftikhar Ahmad Hafiz Qadri.
The Minister said that Hazrat Mian Fazluddin Kalyami (RA) was disciple of Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Ganjshakar (RA) and was known for his piety wisdom, and spiritual prowess.
He also pointed out the relevance of Sufi teachings of affection and brotherhood in today’s time of despair. He called for more such initiatives to introduce mystics to the current generations and promote peace, harmony, and brotherhood.
The Minister stressed the importance of preserving and promoting Sufi literature, considering it a key to foster understandings among diverse communities.
He congratulated the authors for making an excellent contribution to the Sufi literature by writing on spiritual life of Hazrat Mian Fazluddin Kalyami(RA).
The book is based on the biography, teachings, and discourses (Malfuzaat) of Hazrat Mian Fazuluddin Kalyami – a saint belonging to the town of Kalyam situated in tehsil Gujar Khan. The book has been published to mark his 133rd death anniversary.
