ISLAMABAD: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Election of Islamabad Tennis Association was held on Saturday at Islamabad Club, Islamabad.

All affiliated units of the Association attended the AGM and Election Meeting. Tariq Murtaza President/Chairman of the Islamabad Tennis Association (ITA) welcomed the members of the affiliated units.

He appreciated their role in the development and promotion of the game of tennis in the capital territory of Islamabad and handed over the House to Secretary General Arif Qureshi for further proceeding.

Arif Qureshi thanked the House for their support during his tenure of eight years as Secretary. The Council unanimously approved the minutes of the Last AGM and Financial accounts up till Feb-2024.

Mr Qureshi also discussed the activities of the Islamabad Tennis Association and affiliated units of the Association and then handed over the house to Chief Election Commissioner Majid Bashir and POA Representative Rizwan-ul-Haq Rizvi for Election proceedings.

The Chief Election Commissioner disclosed the affiliated unit’s nominations of the candidates to the House and after counting the votes he informed the House that Tariq Mehmood Murtaza as President got six votes.

M. Tufail Cheema as Secretary got five votes and Syed Ahsan Raza Zaidi as Treasurer got five votes whereas Fazal-e-Subhan (President), Kamran Khalil (Secretary) and Dr Kashif (Treasurer) got one vote.

The House unanimously approved and congratulated the new office bearers of the Islamabad Tennis Association and ensured their full support and cooperation for the promotion of tennis in the region.

The ITA announced the results of the Election of the Islamabad Tennis Association for the term of 2024-2028. According to the result: Tariq Mehmood Murtaza is (President), Muhammad Tufail Cheema (Secretary General) and Syed Ahsan Raza Zaidi (Treasurer).
