Information Minister Attaullah Tarar identified Pakistan’s rapid population growth as a critical issue with devastating consequences, explicitly linking the challenge to high infant mortality rates.

Speaking at the Pakistan Population Summit held in the capital, the minister emphasized the urgent need for a multifaceted approach that combines robust health initiatives with extensive public awareness campaigns, according to an official statement issued today.

Tarar stressed that raising awareness is a collective responsibility that must involve all segments of society. He called for the unified participation of religious scholars, government agencies, healthcare institutions, civil society organizations, and the media to effectively address the issue.

The Information Minister also asserted that religion is not an impediment to managing population growth. He pointed out that religious teachings highlight the rights of mothers and children and the responsibilities of a husband, while also advocating for maintaining balance in life.
