Steps afoot to revive past glory of Radio Pakistan: Senator Siddiqui

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Parliamentary Leader in the Senate Irfan Siddiqui has said the government is taking all necessary steps to revive the past glory of Radio Pakistan.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Radio Pothohari Festival in Rawalpindi on Thursday, he said programmes of the Radio Pakistan are its lifeline and there is a need to strengthen the Programme Wing.

Irfan Siddiqui said the Pothohar region has a distinct place in valiance, literature and art. He highlighted that he possess special feeling for Radio Pakistan, which cannot be expressed in words. He recalled that he has penned down hundreds of plays for the Radio Pakistan.

The PML-N leader said Radio Pakistan, Rawalpindi has always been on the forefront in promoting the culture and civilization of the Pothohar region.

He extended felicitation to Director General Radio Pakistan Saeed Ahmed Sheikh, Station Director PB Rawalpindi Musarrat Shah Rukh and their entire team for organizing the festival.

Welcoming Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Musarrat Shah Rukh said organizing such festivals have been the tradition of Radio Pakistan.

She said hues of Pothohar’s culture, civilization, heritage, literature and customs were presented at the Radio Mela in which new talent is also discovered.

She added that historical facts regarding Pothohar region’s famous personalities, writers, artists, singers, their efforts and different cities were highlighted at the festival.

Pothohari Jhomar, Sami and Potohari songs as well as stalls of Potohari dishes and handicrafts were special hallmark of the fair. Senator Danesh Kumar was also present on the occasion.
