Sri Lanka has enthusiastically accepted an invitation to the upcoming InterParliamentary Speakers Conference (ISC) in Islamabad, setting the stage for enhanced regional cooperation and dialogue. Ambassador to the ISC and Adviser to the Chairman Senate, Ms. Misbah Khar, and Senior DirectorGeneral of Protocol, Tariq bin Waheed, formally presented the invitation to Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Rear Admiral (retd) Fred Senevirathne, and Deputy High Commissioner, Christy Ruban, during a meeting at the Sri Lankan High Commission on Tuesday.

The conference, planned for November 1112, 2025, aims to bolster multilateral partnerships and facilitate discussions on shared concerns among regional nations. Ms. Khar emphasized the event’s potential to strengthen institutional collaboration and promote constructive engagement.

High Commissioner Senevirathne affirmed Sri Lanka’s strong relationship with Pakistan and lauded the ISC as a vital platform for improving bilateral and regional ties. He conveyed Sri Lanka’s eagerness to participate actively, acknowledging Pakistan’s commitment to collaborative diplomacy.

Both delegations reaffirmed their dedication to expanding collaboration across diplomatic and security sectors, emphasizing the significance of dialogue for regional stability and advancement.
