Speaker Approves Schedule for Important Federal Budget Debate

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has approved the schedule for upcoming sessions pertaining to the federal budget for the fiscal year 2025-26.

The federal budget will be presented in the National Assembly on Tuesday at 5 PM. Simultaneously, the Senate will also hold a session one hour later at 6 PM, marking a significant moment for both legislative bodies.

A comprehensive debate on the budget will commence on Friday, the 13th of this month, and continue until the 21st, concluding formally on the last day. This schedule provides ample opportunity for detailed discussion and deliberation on the financial plan.

The legislative process will advance as the National Assembly deliberates on the Finance Bill 2025 on the 26th, followed by discussions and voting on supplementary grants and other related matters on the 27th. Notably, there will be no sessions on the 11th, 12th, and 22nd, allowing members to prepare for the intense upcoming debates.

Importantly, all parliamentary parties represented in the National Assembly will be allotted appropriate time to participate in the budget debate, ensuring a balanced and comprehensive discussion in accordance with the assembly’s rules and regulations.
