ISLAMABAD:,,, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi has emphasized the active role of women in the electoral process.

Addressing an event on the Women Participation in Politics here in Islamabad on Monday, he pointed out that women make up half of our population and empowering them is a sacred duty.

He said the first female Prime Minister in the Muslim world was from Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of starting the eradication of gender discrimination at home.

The Information Minister said it is not possible to eliminate gender discrimination only by making laws. We have to change our thinking to give equal rights to women, he added.
