Soan River Flooding Traps Sixteen

Sixteen people were caught in rapidly rising floodwaters near Ladian, on the outskirts of Rawalpindi, prompting a desperate rescue operation. The surge in the Soan River, caused by heavy rainfall, trapped the individuals, triggering an immediate response from local authorities.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is closely observing the rescue efforts remotely, according to a statement posted by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Upon receiving reports of the stranded residents, the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi swiftly deployed a rescue squad led by Assistant Commissioner (AC) Sadar. The team promptly launched an operation to extract those marooned by the deluge.

Authorities have confirmed that twelve of the endangered individuals have been successfully retrieved from the floodwaters and transferred to a secure area. Rescue personnel in Ladian are working tirelessly to save the remaining five people still caught in the dangerous conditions.
