SMIU, German university unite to propel AI and stem cell research

Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) and Germany’s University of Colon on Monday entered into a significant partnership to foster advancements in education and academic research.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by both institutions aims to delve into groundbreaking research in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Stem Cell (SC) technology.

On May 15, 2025, during his visit to the University of Colon, Pro Dr Mujeeb Sahrai, Vice Chancellor of SMIU, and Prof Dr Jrgen Hescheler, Chairman and Director of the University of Colon’s Institute of Neurophysiology, formalized the agreement.

The MoU outlines plans for academic programs, including lecture series and workshops, development of joint research activities through funded projects, faculty and staff exchanges, and student exchange programs. Research results will be shared, and other collaborative activities organized for mutual benefit.

Dr Sahrai, during a meeting at SMIU, highlighted the importance of international collaboration, noting the benefits it brings to SMIU’s faculty and students, particularly in research fields. He expressed gratitude to the University of Colon”s management for their cooperation and looked forward to the progress in research that both institutions will achieve together.
