The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has highlighted the difficulties faced by small business vehicle proprietors due to delays in number plate replacements and vehicle ownership card issuance by the Excise and Taxation (E and T) department.

UNISAME President Zulfikar Thaver noted the substantial presence of agents/brokers at the E and T office, charging exorbitant fees for these services. Members who applied and paid online six months prior have yet to receive notification about their number plates. Furthermore, there appears to be no online portal currently accepting payments for ownership cards.

UNISAME has appealed to the E and T minister to improve the process, eliminate agent/broker interference, and provide dedicated counters for senior citizens and women.

The organization has also requested that staff be directed to expedite tasks and treat citizens respectfully. UNISAME suggested the minister conduct unannounced inspections to monitor staff performance.
