LARKANA: Sindh Irrigation Minister Suhail Anwer Siyal has once again accused IRSA of not giving proper water share to Sindh due to which Baluchistan was also facing water scarcity. He said flood warning had been issued by IRSA for Punjab’s rivers which were flowing to their full capacity and a high alert had also been made but water was unavailable in Sindh.
This he said while addressing a news conference at a local press club here Tuesday. Siyal said had there been no 18th amendment the conditions would had been very different for Sindh due to the attitude of the federal government. He said apart from water, Sindh had also been denied proper share of electricity, gas and NFC funds alleging that the federal government was eating our rights.
He thanked Almighty Allah saying that monsoon rains will start from Friday and water level will improve at Guddu. He said Allah heard their cries but the Niazi government did not. He said that Sindh would have no objection if water share was cut from the province’s share equally but to please Punjab and KPK, water of Sindh and Baluchistan is halted which is height of tyranny. He said growers across Sindh were protesting for water, but Punjab was given more water where a high alert had been issued for floods.
Siyal said that the federal government sometimes claims there is no shortfall of electricity but the menace of prolonged power and gas load shedding is continuing in Sindh which is vivid proof of Niazi government’s incompetence. He said the federal government claimed that the economy had improved but a mini-budget had been presented before the approval of the budget under which rates of gas, electricity and other essential items have been enhanced.
Replying to questions, Siyal said that to resolve the long standing issue of drainage system of Larkana, Mashori Pumping Scheme had been approved costing Rs 18 crore which would resolve this issue permanently, he claimed. He said PPP had been serving Sindh since past 13 years adding with the power of the people, in 2023 we would again form the government at the Center and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be the prime minister, he added.
