Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah formally launched the anti-polio campaign, reiterating the Sindh government’s commitment to eradicating polio. On this occasion, he stated that it is our collective responsibility to eliminate polio.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah mentioned that during the anti-polio campaign in Sindh, 10.6 million children will be administered polio drops, out of which 2.76 million children under the age of five will be vaccinated in Karachi.
He informed that approximately 69,724 trained polio workers will go door-to-door to administer the polio vaccine to children. The Chief Minister instructed to ensure the availability of vaccines at schools, shopping malls, and transit points as well.
Despite the extreme heat, frontline workers are diligently working to secure the nation’s future. The Chief Minister advised polio workers to carry water, ORS, and necessary supplies with them.
Under foolproof security arrangements, 25,360 police personnel have been deployed to protect the polio workers. The Chief Minister urged parents to ensure their children receive polio drops and cooperate with the workers.
The Chief Minister of Sindh reminded that there is no cure for polio; only the vaccine can provide protection. He stated that administering the vaccine repeatedly causes no harm but rather offers additional protection to children.
He directed the officials to ensure that no child is left unvaccinated. The Chief Minister inaugurated the anti-polio campaign from April 21 to 27 by administering polio drops to children.
Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Chief Secretary Syed Asif Haider Shah, and other important personalities also attended the event.
