Sindh Gears Up for Budget Finalization: Key Proposals Discussed Under CM’s Leadership

A crucial joint meeting led by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took place to finalize proposals for the upcoming financial year”s budget, despite it being a public holiday. The meeting, which involved key officials from the Finance and Planning and Development Departments, aimed to firm up budget plans before Eid.

The meeting saw contributions from Planning and Development Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, and other senior officials. Murad Ali Shah communicated the urgency of finalizing most proposals swiftly and indicated more meetings will follow to ensure comprehensive preparation of the budget with public interest as a priority.

Nasir Hussain Shah updated the assembly on the progress of ongoing development schemes, announcing that 1,812 out of 4,644 are slated for completion this year. He emphasized the need for immediate fund allocation to projects nearing completion and briefed on new proposals introduced by various departments for the next fiscal year, many rooted in local initiatives.

Murad Ali Shah instructed departments to refine these proposals for presentation in upcoming meetings, while separate discussions will determine funding allocations. He highlighted the government”s initiation of 1,937 new development schemes in 2023-24, valued at 88.3 billion rupees, with a majority nearing completion.

The Chief Minister concluded by noting that clarity on provincial revenue figures is expected in early June, setting the stage for finalizing the budget proposals.
