Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced a 120-day pardon for convicted prisoners on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. This pardon will benefit 820 prisoners; however, it will not apply to those involved in anti-state activities.
The spokesperson for the Sindh Chief Minister stated that this pardon will also not apply to prisoners convicted of death sentences, murder, espionage, terrorism, rape, and robbery. The spokesperson further explained that the purpose of this initiative is to provide an opportunity for prisoners convicted of minor offenses to spend time with their families during Eid.
This initiative is part of the Sindh Chief Minister’s efforts for the reformation and social rehabilitation of prisoners. Under this decision, 820 prisoners convicted of minor offenses will benefit, and their release is expected to have positive effects on society and their families.
