Sindh Champions Aquaculture Revolution with 600-Acre Shrimp Farming Venture

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh for Investment and Public-Private Partnership, Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, visited Rawah Farms in Gharo, Thatta today, marking a significant step in Sindh’s aquaculture development.

According to the handout issued here today, the initiative, supported by the Sindh Government through the Sindh Enterprise Development Fund, represents a groundbreaking shrimp farming venture in Pakistan, spanning 600 acres. Once operational, it is anticipated to create over 500 direct jobs and contribute more than $100 million in export revenue.

During the visit, Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar pledged unwavering support to Rawah Farms and other aquaculture initiatives throughout Sindh. He further disclosed plans for establishing a special aquaculture zone in the province to enhance the fishing and shrimp sectors, reflecting the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

The visit also saw participation from key industry figures, including the CEO of Sindh Enterprise Development Fund, Khizar Pervaiz, the CEO of Sindh Economic Zone Management Company, Abdul Azeem Uqali, and representatives from Ernst and Young, who engaged in discussions about the project.
