The Sindh government has unveiled a comprehensive set of initiatives aimed at improving the safety, well-being, and opportunities available to women across the province.

According to a statement today, a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Hyder Shah, with Provincial Minister for Women Development Shaheena Sher Ali and other senior officials, reviewed the ongoing projects under the Women Development Department.

The meeting resulted in a number of significant decisions, including the upgrade of all Dar-ul-Amans (shelter homes) throughout the province, which will be equipped with modern facilities. Play areas and tutoring services will also be made available for children residing in these shelters.

In a bid to support working mothers, the government has announced the establishment of 115 daycare centers across Sindh. In the first phase, these centers will be set up in government offices and universities, aimed at easing the childcare burden on working women.

Shaheena underscored that these steps are part of the government’s broader effort to ensure the safety of women while also providing them with employment opportunities.

Shaheena also highlighted that eight development projects, valued at Rs954 million, are currently underway under the Women Development Department. The provincial government is committed to accelerating the completion of these projects to further empower women and improve their socio-economic status, she said.

The CS expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the department’s initiatives but made it clear that delays would not be tolerated. He also assured that necessary funds would be allocated to support skilled women, underlining the government’s commitment to advancing gender equality in Sindh.

These measures reflect a significant step by the Sindh government in empowering women, improving their quality of life, and ensuring they have the resources and support needed to play an active role in society.
