Sheikh Rasheed arrested from Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI:Former interior minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) head Sheikh Rasheed was arrested from his Rawalpindi residence on Sunday

Sheikh Rasheed’s counsel Sardar Abdurrazaq has confirmed that the AML chief has been arrested by men in plain clothes from his residence. He said that two nephews of former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed were also arrested and shifted to an unidentified location.

On September 11, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) summoned former federal minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in National Crime Agency (NCA) £190 million Scandal or Al-Qadir Trust Case.

According to details, the former interior minister was directed to appear before the anti-corruption watchdog.

Earlier on May 24, Sheikh Rasheed ‘skipped’ NAB’s appearance for a probe in National Crime Agency £190m scandal.

Sheikh Rasheed was asked to appear before the NAB as a former member of Imran Khan’s cabinet which passed the decision for the settlement of £190m from the United Kingdom.

It is pertinent to mention here that Awami Muslim League (AML) chief and former interior minister had claimed that three people have been tasked to kill him.

He said that his life is under threat and three people have been given the task to kill him. He urged the then Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of this matter.
