Shehbaz Sharif rushes back to London within 48 hours of his arrival in Pakistan

KARACHI:Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday flew back to London from Lahore Airport on a foreign airlines flight within 48 hours of his arrival in Pakistan. He had stayed in London for a month before returning home on Tuesday morning. Now, the former prime minister will reach London via Doha on the QR629 flight with an important message for PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.

Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme reference hearing deferred an accountability court in Lahore Thursday adjourned the Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme reference against former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and others till October 5. The accountability court’s duty judge, Naseem Ahmed Virk, conducted the hearing and approved the plea of former Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general Ahad Cheema for exemption from attendance.

Ahad Cheema could not appear before the court due to personal engagements. Anwaar Hussain appeared before the court on Shehbaz Sharif’s behalf. The court called for arguments on the acquittal pleas of Shehbaz Sharif and others at the next hearing. Shehbaz Sharif, Ahad Cheema and others filed pleas for their acquittal in the case on the basis of insufficient evidence.

“This reference was filed for political vengeance. The witnesses have stated in the court that Shehbaz Sharif has not committed any irregularity in the Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme. No evidence of corruption was found against the accused in the NAB supplementary investigation report,” the lawyers for the accused told the court.
