Sh Rashid says seeking amnesty for those involved in May 9 is his mission now

Rawalpindi: Former federal minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed has said that it is now his mission to seek amnesty for those involved in the May 9 riots and they have been hiding since then on Sunday.

In a statement on social media platform X, he said that he was grateful to the entire nation and the mothers, sisters, and daughters through whose prayers he had been released after 40 days.

“I do not know at which place I spent the ‘chilla’, but I was not hurt during the time,” he said.

“Now the mission of my life is to seek amnesty for all those who committed a mistake on May 9 and have been in hiding since then, and for all those innocent people who have been in jails since May 9,” he added.

He appealed to the entire nation to support him in this peaceful mission on X. “I have never appealed on Twitter. Today, I am appealing for the first time to join me in my mission to appeal for amnesty to those who committed a wrong on May 9.”

He added: “I am going to start my mission from tomorrow. The prayers of the nation are needed. Inshallah, success will be our destiny, and Allah will make us successful in this mission with the prayers of mothers, sisters and daughters.”
