Indian Police detained several Congress leaders and activists on Thursday as they attempted to march to the Raj Bhawan, the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor, in Jammu, occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest was organized to express concerns over the growing incidents of violence and Modi regime’s failure in curbing them and the delegation of more powers to Lieutenant Governor.
The Congress leaders and workers were stopped by police barricades, but some managed to break through and continue their march before being detained. The protest is part of a larger campaign by the Congress party to mobilize public support on these issues ahead of the upcoming elections for occupied Jammu and Kashmir assembly.
