Senate Passes Resolution Condemning Israeli Aggression Against Iran

The Senate on Friday unanimously passed a resolution strongly condemning what it described as Israeli aggression against Iran. This resolution highlights a growing concern over peace and security in the region, reflecting a robust stance in defense of Iranian sovereignty and condemning actions that breach international norms.

Moved by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, the resolution voices a resolute stand with Iran, asserting their right to defend against any acts deemed aggressive by Israel. The motion criticizes these actions as stark violations against the principles upheld by the United Nations and international law, stressing that such behaviors jeopardize regional and global peace.

Furthermore, the resolution denounces Israel’s actions against the Muslim community worldwide, particularly pointing to longstanding violence in occupied Palestine and recent escalations in Gaza. It mentions the continuous loss of life, including children and civilians, describing the situation as a slaughter on an unimaginable scale over the past two years.

Amid these heavy accusations, the resolution also expresses disappointment over the lack of action from the global Muslim community, suggesting this inaction has emboldened Israel to extend its reach to other sovereign Muslim nations such as Iran.

Additionally, the Senate session included discussions on various national issues, particularly the upcoming fiscal year”s budget. Opposition leader Syed Shibli Faraz criticized the allocation of funds and called for more investment in infrastructure and social services to alleviate poverty and unemployment. Discussions also touched on the need for reforms in higher education and rural development.

In another unanimous decision, the Senate passed the “The Societies Registration (Amendment) Bill, 2025”, aimed at refining the framework for societal registrations under the guidance of Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar.

The session was adjourned with plans to reconvene on Monday at 3 PM.
