Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani paid glowing homage to Pakistan’s citizens, armed forces, and martyrs in a Defence Day message.

Gilani termed September 6 a ‘golden chapter’ in national history, symbolizing the unity and sacrifices made for the nation’s freedom, sovereignty, and dignity. He praised the armed forces’ valor and resilience during the 1965 war, which he said continues to inspire.

He highlighted how the military thwarted recent threats from India, proving their unwavering resolve against all adversaries. He declared that just like in 1965, the opponent met with disgrace and defeat.

The Chairman emphasized that Defence Day is not merely a remembrance but a pledge and ideology that Pakistan’s survival and prosperity are a shared duty of the citizens and armed forces. He urged national unity, sacrifice, and determination in serving the country.

Gilani acknowledged the contributions of past leaders, mentioning Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s role in the nuclear program, Benazir Bhutto’s democratic struggle, Asif Ali Zardari’s parliamentary empowerment, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s representation of youth.

He stressed the need for national introspection and transforming weaknesses into strengths, stating that gifting future generations a strong, prosperous, and peaceful Pakistan is paramount.

Concluding his message, the Chairman Senate reaffirmed the excellence of Pakistan’s armed forces and the nation’s solidarity with them. He called for renewed commitment to individual and collective responsibilities to transform Pakistan into a beacon of peace and progress.
