The Pakistani Senate, presided over by Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, on Friday unanimously endorsed a landmark resolution to commemorate the 1500th Eid Milad-un-Nabi ? with nationwide celebrations at the official level.

Introduced by Senator Irfan-ul-Haq Siddiqui, the resolution emphasized the occasion’s religious and historical importance. It urged federal and provincial authorities to arrange significant events throughout the nation.

The resolution advocated for the illumination and adornment of government, semi-government, and private structures, along with major thoroughfares. It also suggested dedicating national media initiatives to this theme.

The Senate called upon all sectors – government, private, educational, and business establishments, as well as media outlets and citizens – to foster peace, harmony, and fraternity, mirroring the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ?. It reiterated its dedication to implementing all feasible steps for the advancement of Seerat-un-Nabi ?.

Syed Imran-ul-Hassan Gilani, leader of Anjuman-e-Islamia Multan, praised the decision and declared that his group would conduct unique programs this year to observe the 1500th Eid Milad-un-Nabi ?.

He commended the Senate chairman, the resolution’s sponsor, and all Senate members for the adoption of what he described as a “momentous action.”

Addressing the Senate, Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani mentioned his discussions with National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on the subject. He voiced optimism that a comparable resolution would be swiftly and unanimously adopted by the lower house and enacted into law. He considered it a privilege for the Senate to lead the commemoration of 1500 years since the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ?.
