Sehat Card Program Ends, Leaving Millions In Punjab Vulnerable: PTI

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf said on Monday that the Sehat Card program in Punjab, which offered free healthcare to millions, has officially ended, leaving vulnerable families without crucial medical support.

According to a statement from the PTI on X (formerly Twitter) criticized the termination of the initiative, once spearheaded by Imran Khan, attributing the decision to the establishment and Maryam Nawaz.

The program ensured access to essential medical services for those unable to afford treatment. Its cancellation will disproportionately impact children, senior citizens, and individuals with chronic illnesses, restricting their access to necessary healthcare.

The PTI’s statement condemned the move, arguing that the current administration’s decision has created a barrier to vital medical care. The party expressed concern over the impact on vulnerable populations and predicted lasting consequences due to the program”s discontinuation. The statement emphasized the now unaffordable medical treatment burdening vulnerable families.

The PTI warns that the program’s termination will have significant repercussions, placing a substantial financial burden on vulnerable families seeking essential medical care. They believe history will judge harshly the joint decision of the establishment and Maryam Nawaz to dismantle this safety net.
