Security forces thwarted a major infiltration bid by Fitna al-Khawarij along the border, a decisive operation conducted between August 7 and 9 that eliminated 47 militants, most of whom were Afghan nationals.

Officials described the strike as a critical disruption that prevented any immediate militant action by the insurgent faction. Most of the slain combatants were located on the Afghan side of the frontier, and there was no retrieval effort for about fifteen days.

Following a tribal jirga held with Afghan officials yesterday, the cadavers were transported using donkeys. Prolonged exposure to sun and elements degraded the remains, and they became a food source for carnivorous wildlife.

Analysts said eliminating this unit before it could launch any terrorist operation constitutes a notable achievement for security and intelligence agencies.
