ISLAMABAD:The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday ordered the completion of audit of Gun and Country Club, Islamabad in one month. A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial, heard the Gun and Country Club case. The SC also directed the federal government to resolve the land dispute between the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the club.
Making an observation that the club was a national asset, and that it was meant to provide facilities to the people, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial urged parties to the case to take the matter seriously and not to make it a matter of ego. The court was informed that the club’s administration had already hired the services of an internal audit company.
Additional secretary IPC assured the court that the bill, 2023 related to making of rules and regulations of the club will be presented in the parliament this week. The CJP remarked that the rift between the club and the CDA damaged the latter’s reputation. The SC initially directed that the audit report be submitted within two weeks. But when Advocate Naeem Bukhari told the court that he would be away from the country for a month; so, therefore, the hearing should be adjourned for a month, CJP Bandial smiled and replied in affirmative.
