Review Meeting Held on Progress of Project to Make 1200 Villages Model Villages in Punjab

Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of the ambitious “Model Village” project, which aims to modernize 1200 villages across the province. The project focuses on comprehensive infrastructure upgrades in villages, including the provision of uninterrupted water supply, complete sewerage networks, and construction of wastewater treatment plants.

The meeting also included briefings on the “Clean Punjab” and “Waste to Value” projects, aligning with the government’s broader focus on environmental sustainability and optimal resource utilization. Officials apprised the Chief Minister of the initial progress, with development work completed in 130 pilot villages.

Key features discussed for these model settlements include paved roads, road repairs, children’s recreational areas, and tree plantation drives. Further enhancements include house numbering and the installation of signboards for improved navigation and organization within the villages.

The Chief Minister was also briefed on sustainable solutions like solar-powered water supply and sewerage infrastructure. The Chief Minister directed prioritizing public needs when setting project timelines. She demanded adherence to the stipulated time for early project completion and reiterated her firm commitment to ensuring the comprehensive development of every designated settlement.
