Restrictions on digital media not solution to issues, tells MQM leader

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) MPA Engineer Sabir Hussain Qaimkhani, said on Sunday that Pakistan’s constitution guaranteed freedom of expression to its citizens.

Digital media has revolutionized the world, enabling the public to access and hear the truth. However, placing restrictions on digital freedom does not offer a lasting solution,” he said while speaking at a workshop organized by the Women Media Center in Hyderabad.

Qaimkhani informed the students of Sindh University Jamshoro about the benefits of digital media and its professional platforms. He stated that information and expression could not be blocked or eliminated.

The MQM leadeer pointed out that former US President Barack Obama ran his entire election campaign on social media, and a revolution was sparked in Turkey through a social media message. He stressed that in civilized countries, people were educated rather than subjected to restrictions.

Qaimkhani praised the Executive Director of the Women Media Center, Fauzia Shaheen, for organizing the workshop on digital media. He urged the students to promote truth in digital media and avoid becoming part of any propaganda.
