Frontier Corps North on Friday continued rescue operation in remote areas of Chitral after severe flooding hit the region.
According to a report, due to heavy rains and floods, Yarkhun Valley of Chitral was cut off from Mastuj. Losses have also been also reported in Arsun and Kalash. Crops, shops and many houses were washed away due to severe floods. Frontier Corps North is shifting the people to safer places.
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Friday that torrential rains might generate flash flooding in local nullahs and streams of Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Bunner, Bannu, Kurrum, Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Orakzai, Khyber, Mohmand, Nowshera, Swabi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Northeast Punjab, Hill torrents of D.G Khan and Kashmir.
According to PMD statement, the stormy rains are also likely to cause flash floodingin in Kalat, Khuzdar, Barkhan, Lasbella, Zhob, Loralai, Sibbi, Harnai, Awaran, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, Jhal Magsi, Naseerabad, Musa Khel and Jaffarabad. Heavy Downpour may cause urban flooding in low lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Nowshera and Peshawar from 02nd and 03rd August and low lying areas of Sindh. Landslides may cause roads closure at the vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the wet period.
