Rainwater still stagnant in Naundero’s Bilawal Colony

NAUNDERO: Stagnant rainwater could not be drained out of Bilawal Colony here on Friday as two to three feet water was still standing in the colony endangering lives of the residents.

Houses of the poor residents made of mud bricks have become very dangerous and the residents are facing trouble in staying in their homes which may cost their lives. Two women Sughra and Begum Mirani, Naveed Bhutto, Hakim Oad and others told newsmen that schools are already full of rain victims and they are also crying for food as they have not been provided required facilities announced by the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

They said one time food is supplied to the victims at the schools in an insufficient manner. They said that stagnant rainwater has complicated and crippled their lives which should be drained out of the colony immediately. They said no government official is coming down the main road because of the rainwater. They said that the so-called notables are asking us to provide a dewatering machine but we should bear the cost of fuel which is disgusting. Recently elected councillor Arif Soomro said that whatever is given by the party is handed over to the victims.

Meanwhile, residents of Bharchood village also held a separate protest demonstration at Sugar Mill Bypass, staged sit-in by keeping bushes due to which all kinds of traffic came to standstill from Larkana and Sukkur. Rehan Jakhro, Deedar Jakhro, Zulfiqar Chandio, Wasim Bhutto, Tauqeer Bhutto and others while taking to newsmen complained that recently elected local bodies PPP councillors of Garhi Khuda Bux Union Council including Chairman Hameed Bhutto and councillor Saeed Bharchoond have not yet come to their help despite the fact that their village has been submerged in the rainwater which was partly drained out on self-help basis. They demanded relief for the affected victims including food, tents and construction of their houses.
