LARKANA: The district administration has claimed to have increased its efforts to take care of rain / flood affected people in the relief camps of Larkana district.

This was stated in a handout issued by the Information Department, Larkana, here on Monday. According to the report issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the process of providing food, clean drinking water, free medical aid to the victims in 157 relief camps including tent cities is going on. Quoting figures, the report claimed that 344 families and 2765 people are staying at the relief camp of Municipal Stadium Larkana, while 304 people consisting of 45 families are living in the tent city of Arija industrial site.

Similarly, 3096 people from 389 families stay in both tent cities. Apart from this, there are 69 relief camps in different places of Larkana taluka, in which 8239 people of 1073 families are staying, 217 families and 1736 people live in 36 relief camps of Ratodero taluka. 148 families and 1184 people are still living in 18 relief camps of Dokri Taluka.

238 families and 1904 people are living in 32 relief camps in Bakrani Taluka. Similarly, a total of 2065 families and 16132 people have been sent to 157 relief camps, of which 13063 people from 1676 families are being cared for in 155 camps established in 11 educational institutions of Larkana district.

Apart from this, the report added, the maintenance of 3069 people of 389 families in two tent cities is going on. The district administration is providing ration, other food items, clean water, free treatment in medical camps and other facilities to the rain victims on the instructions of the district administration. Larkana’s deputy commissioner has said that until the rain affected people are staying at the relief camps and till their rehabilitation work is completed, their full support will continue.

Meanwhile, 24 stalls have been established for selling wheat flour at cheaper rates in Larkana district out of which 19 stalls are in different areas of Larkana city where wheat flour was being sold at Rs65 per kg. Assistant Commissioner, Ahmed Ali Soomro told PPI that after rain havoc in the province, the government has established stalls to the people on cheaper rates as they have lost their precious crops, homes and businesses. He said people are coming to the stalls and buying flour at the government prices.
